Shortly after the start of Marshall’s second grade school year, he began seeing specialists at St. Louis Children’s Hospital for recurrent swollen lymph nodes. Despite feeling strong and otherwise well, Marshall was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic lymphoma in October 2024. This devastating news was quickly followed by an intensive chemotherapy regimen and a brief hospital stay.
After 30 days of both inpatient and outpatient treatment, Marshall was tested again and found to have persistent cancer cells in his bone marrow. As a result, his medical team revised his diagnosis to acute lymphoblastic leukemia and extended his treatment plan to three years. On March 8, 2025, we received the call from our doctor we had been longing to hear - REMISSION. While this milestone marked a critical victory, it did not mean the journey was over. Marshall will continue treatment through March 2028 with the goal of keeping the cancer away for good.
Today, Marshall is back in school for his third grade year, bringing determination, joy, and resilience with him into the classroom. After dark days and hard days, we are forever grateful for everyday normalcy and the little wins - like building with LEGOs, playing the piano, and running around with his friends again at recess.
The location of Miles for Marshall was an intentional pick, as Patriot's Park was a common park Marshall and his mom would explore throughout the entire year. They spent hours hiking the trails and playing in the spillway, and for that reason, the entire park holds a special place in their hearts.

We have been blessed with the best! It meant so much to have Marshall’s St. Louis Children’s Hospital family - Dr. Rachel Granberg, Nurse Jess, Nurse Jenna, and Nurse Paige - come out to support him and all pediatric cancer families at the 2025 5K. Their love and presence made the day even more special.

The driving force behind Miles for Marshall, guided by a mother’s love and courage, inspiring a community to come together for children and families battling cancer.
